Frequently asked questions

New to CareLogger? These are the questions families ask first. If yours is not here, email support@carelogger.app.

What is CareLogger, and who is it for?

CareLogger is an app for families who share the care of an older relative. It keeps one record of that person: medications, vital signs, what happened today, and what still needs doing, so everyone involved is working from the same page.

It is built for the moments when care changes hands. Siblings taking turns, a live-in or visiting caregiver handing back to the family, the first weeks at home after a hospital discharge.

What is the Handoff Board, and how does a handoff work?

The Handoff Board is where a caregiver writes down what happened on their shift before they finish: what was done, what is still pending, and anything the next person should watch for.

The next caregiver opens the board, reads the note and acknowledges it. You can see that it landed, so nothing has to be repeated over the phone, and past handoffs stay in the app as a history.

What goes in the Important Info folder?

The facts someone needs in a hurry and should not have to ask for: emergency contact, primary doctor, preferred hospital, medical conditions, allergies, blood type, insurance ID and a long-term care case number.

Everyone in the care circle can open it, which is the point. A caregiver arriving for the first time, or a family member already at the hospital, should not have to phone around for a blood type.

What are the Home Safety Checklist and the Fall Risk Assessment?

The Home Safety Checklist goes room by room through the bathroom, bedroom, hallway and living room, kitchen and entrance, asking about the things that cause falls: grab bars, non-slip mats, lighting, loose rugs, handrails, thresholds. Each item is marked safe, needs work, or not applicable, so the list of fixes is written down rather than remembered.

The Fall Risk Assessment is eight yes/no questions covering falls in the past year, unsteadiness, walking aids, taking four or more medications daily, vision, difficulty getting out of a chair, dizziness on standing, and foot pain. It returns a low, medium or high risk level, and you can repeat it over time to see whether it moves.

Both are self-assessment aids for planning. CareLogger is a coordination and recordkeeping tool: it is not a medical device, and nothing in it is a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Talk to a qualified healthcare professional about the care receiver's condition, and in an emergency call your local emergency number.

How do I invite family, and what is the care circle?

The care circle is everyone who has access to one care receiver. From Invite Family, generate a one-time link or QR code and send it to the person you want to add. They open it, sign in, and they are in.

Care circles belong to a care receiver, not to your account. Someone you add for one relative does not automatically see another.

Is CareLogger free?

CareLogger is free to use today. A paid family plan with higher sharing limits is planned; the current limits are shown in the app under Subscription.

Will my family see my own health data?

No. Apple Health sync is off by default, and when you turn it on it lives under Settings, My Health, on your account only. Anything recorded or imported there is tagged as the phone owner's data.

It never appears in the care receiver's vital signs, doctor reports, email digests or handoff notes. CareLogger is for the person being cared for; your own readings stay yours.

How do reminders work?

Reminders are scheduled on your own device, so they appear only on the phone that set them. Each family member sets up their own under Settings, Reminders.

Medication reminders follow the schedules you add under Health, Meds. You can add custom care reminders too, for things like turning, feeding or a blood pressure check. Phones cap how many pending notifications one app may hold, and the app tells you when you have gone past that.

How do share links and doctor reports work?

A share link is a read-only view of the current care status that opens in any browser, so a family member who does not use the app can still check in. A doctor report covers a period you choose, with medications, vital signs and key events, in a page you can show or print at a clinic visit.

Both are links rather than accounts: whoever holds one sees what it shows and nothing else. You can set a link to expire, and you can deactivate any link from the app, after which it stops working immediately.

Which devices does CareLogger work on?

The app runs on iPhone and Android phones, installed from the App Store or Google Play. Share links and doctor reports are ordinary web pages, so anyone you send one to can open it in any browser, on a phone, tablet or computer, without installing anything.

How do I delete my account?

From inside the app, or from carelogger.app/en/delete-account, which emails you a confirmation link. Nothing is deleted until you open that link and press the button.

Care receivers only you have access to are deleted along with your account. Ones shared with family stay with the family, and you are removed from that care circle.
